Troop 436

Hollister, CA.

Welcome to Troop 436

Troop History

Troop 436 is the oldest charted Scout Troop in San Benito County. The troop was first chartered by the First Presbyterian Church in 1n 1946 with four adult leaders and 19 boy scouts. In 1950 the Mariner's Club of the First Presbyterian Church took over as the charter organization. In 1952 the Mariners Club became the Hollister Lion's Club. The troop continued to grow under the Lion's Club Charter until 1969, when the current Charter Organization, The Hollister Exchange club took over. In the late 90s, the troop reached 57 scouts and 23 adult leaders., Currently, there are approximately 35 active scouts in the troop.

Troop 436 is Scout-run. Some of the activities we participate in are: camping, hiking or  bike riding each month, summer camp each July, the Exchange Club Crab Crack, Christmas Tree Pick-up and of course, Popcorn Sales.

The troop is dedicated to instilling scout values and building character, and emphasizes leadership and self-reliance.  Scouts learn essential skills through advancements and study diverse fields through the merit badge program.
